The main ones will carry out a series of events throughout Brazil at the beginning of February to mark the receipt of the first paycheck exempt from the payment. The measure came into force on January 1st.
“This was an old demand of ours, which fortunately was taken up by the government and approved by Congress. It is a measure that will benefit more than 15 million workers”, says Ricardo Patah, president of UGT (União Geral dos Trabalhadores), one of the centers that will participate in the events.
Initially, the events are scheduled for February 5th and should take place simultaneously in several cities. In São Paulo, the stage should be Avenida Paulista.
CUT, Força Sindical, CTB, CSB, Nova and other worker entities will also participate.
According to Patah, the acts, in addition to celebrating the IR exemption, will present new demands, such as the end of tax collection for sharing in profits and results.
The centers will also take advantage of the events to promote a strong unionization campaign. “Since the labor reform, the union movement has entered a certain depression, but we are now going to show the importance of unions so that new achievements can be obtained”, stated the leader.
