Admittedly, there are easier tasks than starting the new year with a positive comment about Austria’s economy. Prices have risen far too much for far too long, while at the same time the economy was experiencing the longest slump of the post-war period. The state budget is ailing and there are more unemployed people today than a year ago. Nevertheless, at the beginning of 2026 there is a lot that can give us confidence.
