United States President Donald Trump appeared to downplay an expiring nuclear treaty with Russia, saying in statements released this Thursday that if it expires, it expires.
The last arms control treaty between the US and Russia, New START, is set to expire on February 5. It limits the number of strategic nuclear warheads that the two nations can deploy.
“We’ll make a better deal,” Trump told The New York Times, “adding that China must be incorporated” into any future deal. The interview was held on Wednesday.
