The return to the original formation returned to the center of conversations after statements by Will.i.am. In an interview with the program #TheLAB, led by Brazilian producer Papatinho, the musician revealed that he already imagines a plan to reunite apl.de.ap, Taboo and including an unreleased album and debut during the carnival of .

According to Will.i.am, the idea would be to develop an album designed specifically for Rio’s festivities and release it during the carnival period. For the rapper, Brazil would be the appropriate setting to mark an eventual return of the quartet that enjoyed worldwide success between the 2000s and the following decade.

“[Imagine] we made an album for Rio’s carnival and launched it at Rio’s carnival. And it’s me, Taboo, Apl and Fergie. That would be epic,” said Will.i.am. According to the rapper, if the classic lineup gets back together, the project would need to happen in Brazil. “If we were to bring this lineup back, it needs to happen in Brazil, at Carnival. This is the stage for it”, he added.

During the conversation, Will.i.am also sent a direct message to Fergie, who left the group in 2018. “You know what we have to do. If we’re going to do it, it has to be in Brazil”, said the musician. Producer Papatinho reacted with good humor to the proposal and agreed that a Black Eyed Peas reunion at Rio’s carnival would have a great impact. He said he is ready to collaborate if the project moves forward.
