Coordinator of Flávio Bolsonaro’s (-RJ) presidential pre-campaign, the senator (PL-RN) says there will be respect for the other opposition candidates in the first round of the election, with a view to an alliance against Lula in the final stage.
“There will be no antagonism on our part. We have a common adversary, Lula’s PT. What unites us is the feeling that it is necessary to free Brazil”, says Marinho.
Last week, the possibility of a third-way candidacy grew with the joining of Ratinho Jr., from Paraná, and Eduardo Leite, from Rio Grande do Sul.
Other names placed in the right field are Romeu Zema (Novo), Aldo Rebelo (DC) and Renan Santos (Missão).
According to Marinho, the right has a plurality of names, while the left only presents the candidacy of the current president. “On that side there is only him [Lula]it is difficult for alternatives to emerge, there is democratic centralism”, he states.
For the campaign coordinator, Flávio consolidated his candidacy among the population. “Initial skepticism is being replaced by electoral maturity,” he says.
After the affirmation period, the goal is to assemble the campaign team and publish government proposals, which must be made in “pills”, by area.
“Let’s look at the 2022 election as a laboratory of what happened. Let’s enhance the successes and not repeat the mistakes.” One change, he says, is to take advantage of Flávio’s characteristics as a “more political and lighter” candidate than his father.
Marinho cites three main themes for the senator’s campaign: fiscal responsibility, combating corruption and public security.
“Brazil pays a very high price for the way in which the PT has neglected public debt. As a result, we have the highest real interest rate in the world”, he states.
During Jair Bolsonaro’s government, he adds, there was a pandemic, and an energy crisis due to the invasion of Ukraine, with a rise in oil prices. “Even so, we reduced taxes and modernized the State”, he states.
Regarding corruption, the idea is to make a direct link between what the senator calls previous cases, such as Mensalão and Petrolão. “This government has the DNA of the PT, with endemic corruption and rigging of the public machine.”
Likewise, public security is seen as an opportunity for Flávio. “Lula is complicit in the crime and demonstrates this when he states that the drug dealer is the victim of the user and when he looks more at the criminal than at society.”
