Iran This Monday morning he called all the EU ambassadors to consultations in protest of the appointment, on Thursday of last week, of the Revolutionary Guard as a “terrorist group.”

This guard is the elite Praetorian group within the Islamic Republicin charge of protecting the system that governs the Persian country since the Islamic revolution of 1979. It has members mainly in the armed forces but not alone. Established as a horizontal council under direct orders from the supreme leader, the Avoid ali jameneícontrols the upper echelons of economic and political power in the Persian country.

He also directs the basij forcesthe paramilitary group traditionally in charge of violently repressing any wave of protest. This January, with a confirmed death toll of 6.700is no exception.

“We are reviewing a series of actions and options, which have already been sent to the decision-making bodies. In the coming days we will make a decision on a reciprocal action of the Islamic Republic of Iran against this illegal, erroneous and irrational movement of the European Union (EU)”The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry declared this Monday, Esmael Baghaei.

This Sunday, in fact, the Parliament of the Persian country – whose parliamentarians dressed in the uniform of the Revolutionary Guard – declared to all armies of EU countries as “terrorist organisations”. Brussels recognized the guard as terrorists for their “responsibility” in the violence against protesters, especially during January 8 and 9, when police and basijis fired with real fire against participants in protests throughout the country.

Since then, Iran has returned to normal, although with asterisks: much of the internet remains blocked, and the country looms constant threat of a possible American attack, not ruled out by a US president, Donald Trumpwhich however claims to be already negotiating with Tehran.
