Rafah – Israel reopened the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt to passenger traffic on Monday. This is an important step to enable Palestinians to leave and return to the coastal area, said an Israeli security official. The reopening is a central condition of the first phase of the plan brokered by US President Donald Trump to end the fighting between Israel and the radical Islamic group Hamas.
