The Israeli news website Ynet reported that the date of the meeting, which was originally supposed to take place on Sunday, was changed to earlier. According to Iranian sources, negotiations between Tehran and Washington will begin on Friday in the Omani capital of Muscat. An unnamed US official confirmed this for DPA on Thursday.

Iran says it plans to limit talks only to its nuclear program, while the US wants to include Iran’s missile program, human rights abuses and its support for armed anti-Israeli groups such as Palestinian Hamas, Lebanese Hezbollah and Yemen’s Houthis on the agenda.
The Israeli government expects the talks in Oman to fail, local media reported. However, Ynet reported on concerns in Tel Aviv that US President Donald Trump could make concessions to reach a limited deal to curb Iran’s nuclear program.
