The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), stated that Brazil is ready to discuss the end of the 6×1 work schedule.

This Monday (9), he sent to the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Commission (CCJ) the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) which foresees changes in the current working hours model, considered by critics as excessively exhausting for workers.

“We are going to start this great journey now because Brazil needs it, because the people deserve it, because it is the right thing to do”, he declared when defending the advancement of the proposal in Congress.

The CCJ must analyze two PECs that are being processed together on the topic: PEC 8/25, authored by congresswoman Erika Hilton (Psol-SP)and PEC 221/19, presented by deputy Reginaldo Lopes (PT-MG). The collegiate will be responsible for evaluating the constitutional admissibility of the texts. If approved, the projects will be analyzed by a special committee.

According to the President of the Chamber, the debate is already late and needs to move forward to guarantee a better quality of life for the population. For Motta, it is necessary to discuss solutions that allow workers to “have more time, more dignity” in an economic model that moves towards respect for human beings and their quality time.
