After 10 days of disappearance, certain clues are beginning to emerge about what happened to Nancy Guthrie on January 31. The woman, 84 years old, She is the mother of well-known journalist Savannah Guthrie, 54, who has temporarily left her job on the program Todayon NBC, to focus on the search. This Tuesday, the FBI and the office of the sheriff of Pima County, Arizona, have released the first images of what appears to be Guthrie’s kidnapper.
FBI Director Kash Patel has published several of these images on social networks. Captured by the security camera of Guthrie’s home, they show a hooded person, wearing thick gloves and sports clothing, on the porch of the home in Tucson, Arizona. The camera disappeared that night, and it was not connected to any image recording program, which is why it took the agents days to find them.

“Over the last eight days, the FBI and the Department of Sheriff of Pima County have been working closely with our private sector partners to continue recovering any images or videos of Nancy Guthrie’s home that may have been lost, damaged or inaccessible due to various factors, including the removal of recording devices,” Patel explained, showing four of those images, in black and white, but in good quality, explaining that the footage was recovered from residual data and until now was inaccessible.

Then, with two more photographs and two more videos, one of 11 seconds and another of 26. In the short, that person is seen manipulating the camera and pulling some weeds from Guthrie’s garden. In the long film, he manipulates the camera with the weeds, in what seems like an attempt to keep his face from being seen.
The FBI official asks in his message that “anyone who has information, please call 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit,” to provide clues. At the moment they are not going to give more information to the press, according to the sheriff from Pima.

A disconnected pacemaker and blood on the porch
Nancy Guthrie, who has heart problems and requires medication, disappeared without a trace on the night of January 31 to February 1. On Saturday the 31st he went to dinner at his daughter Annie’s and her family’s house, around five thirty in the afternoon. They returned her to her home around nine-thirty at night. However, around two in the morning on Sunday, February 1, the main camera at the entrance of the house was disconnected. About 45 minutes later, the app controlling the pacemaker he was wearing disconnected from his phone.
On Sunday at noon, after Nancy didn’t go to mass or answer her calls, her family became worried and showed up at her house. When they couldn’t find her, they called the emergency services, which started an investigation that has now lasted 10 days. Among the few clues that are known is that they found blood on the porch of the house, which belonged to Nancy. Almost from the first moment they assumed that Mrs. Guthrie had not fled on her own – among other things, due to her physical problems – and also that it was not a botched robbery, but rather it seemed like a kidnapping, although without completely clear intentions.
Savannah Guthrie and her two siblings, Annie and Camron, have publicly spoken and mourned the disappearance of their mother. Initially, in their videos they asked for his return. Afterwards, they went on to directly question the kidnappers, on Sunday on the presenter’s networks: “We have received your message. We understand it. We beg you to return our mother to us. It is the only way. It is the most valuable thing for us, and we will pay.” The images have almost 20 million views.
On Monday, he thanked all the people who had thought and prayed for them for their gestures of affection, explaining that they were entering “another nightmare week.” “We believe our mother is still there,” he stated, “and we need your help.” That’s why he asked everyone who had a clue to give it, even if they were far from Tucson, the family home.
Savannah Guthrie remains with her family in Arizona, and has been temporarily replaced in The Today Show by Hoda Kotb. Last week, the police remained positive about Nancy’s return. He sheriff from Pima, Chris Nanos, leading the investigation, appeared on the program on Friday and assured that Nancy was still “out there”: “They have to have hope. We are going to find it.”
