Current champion of the São Paulo Carnival, the samba school Rosas de Ouro did not deliver the jury folder for Carnival 2026 within the regulatory deadline. The material should have been filed by 11:59 pm on Monday (9), which did not happen.
In a message sent to the presidents of the other 13 schools, the president of the Independent League of Samba Schools of São Paulo (Liga-SP), Renato Remondiniofficially communicated the failure to meet the deadline and granted a new deadline for delivery, until 2pm this Tuesday (10).
Despite the extra deadline, the situation must be analyzed and deliberated by the presidents of the other associations. Behind the scenes, leaders heard by the CNN state that the regulation is clear and that the penalty of 0.5 tenths late delivery is considered practically certain, regardless of whether the school regularizes the situation within the new schedule established by the League.
Presidents of other schools argue that compliance with the rules needs to be the same for all associations, especially as it is the current champion, and believe that making exceptions could generate future questions about the fairness of the process.
So far, Rosas de Ouro has not officially commented on the delay, nor has Liga-SP. A meeting between school presidents should take place this Tuesday to define the next steps and the possible application of the punishment provided for in the regulations.
