CNJ suspends Buzzi case until STJ concludes investigation – 02/10/2026 – Brasília Hoje

The National Justice Inspectorate suspended work on investigating complaints against the subject of investigations, until the conclusion of the inquiry opened by the STJ (Superior Court of Justice).

This Tuesday (10), the court removed the magistrate until the end of the internal investigation.

The national inspector, Minister Mauro Campbell, had already opted to suspend the procedure at the CNJ (National Council of Justice) before this deliberation. He did not participate in the meeting and was also not present in the session that decided to open the investigation, precisely because of the position he holds in the CNJ.

The minister ordered the sending of the evidence collected so far by the Internal Affairs Department to the commission selected to analyze the case at the STJ.

According to people familiar with the investigation, the Internal Affairs Department must also monitor the progress of the work through an integrated system. In this way, you can raise the case again if you deem it necessary or act in the disciplinary review after the conclusion of the STJ.

Campbell sent a letter to the president of the STJ, minister Herman Benjamin, on Monday (9) informing his decision to suspend the processing of the procedure at the CNJ.

On Monday, the inspector also collected statements related to the second complaint. Members of the CNJ interviewed under reserve state that a complaining employee and three other employees were interviewed, after being cited by her.

Lawyers and the Federal Public Ministry attended the hearing. But, at this stage, there is no so-called contradictory established, with formal defense. Therefore, the Internal Affairs Department did not form an accusatory or guilty judgment before sending the material to the STJ.

Since the first complaint was reported, the case began to be investigated by the CNJ, through the Internal Affairs Department, by the STJ investigation and by the STF (Supreme Federal Court), the latter being responsible for the criminal part.

Administrative processes have the most serious consequence of compulsory retirement. In this scenario, Buzzi would lose his position as minister, but would continue to receive his earnings.

Due to the seriousness of the conduct, the minister would receive this penalty or suspension if the act was proven. Below this, he could suffer a warning or censure, if it is understood that his stance was less serious.

A conviction in the Supreme Court for the crime of sexual harassment could lead to imprisonment and the loss of values.

Buzzi denies the accusations and says he will prove his innocence. In a message he sent to the STJ ministers’ WhatsApp group this Monday (9), he said he was “very impacted” and had never adopted “behavior that would embarrass the family or tarnish the judiciary.”
