Monument to resistance fighters is to make way for the new town center in Laakirchen

There is currently still a war memorial on the main square in Laakirchen. The names of those who died and disappeared in both world wars are engraved on a stone wall. A stele placed in front commemorates nine local Nazi victims, eight of whom were local resistance fighters who were murdered by the National Socialists in concentration camps. This place of remembrance will soon be history. Because Mayor Fritz Feichtinger (SPÖ) is planning a new town center here that will revitalize the city.
