Severino’s lawyer, Bárbara Bonvicini, reinforced that the employee did not make technical decisions on his own and that the mixing of chemicals was made by order of a superior. “The superiors asked him to make the mixture. A specific superior gave this order”, he stated.
According to the defense, although Severino carried out the mixing alone, the guidance came from above. “He made this mixture, yes, but on orders from his superior,” said the lawyer.
Bárbara Bonvicini also stated that the defense awaits the progress of the investigations and the conclusion of the reports. “At this point, we are waiting for the investigation to be resolved, especially because we need reports on the products at the site, in short, his own cell phone,” he declared.
Asked about the content of the seized messages, the lawyer stated that the records show direct conversations with a superior responsible for the orders. “The conversations were with his superior, who determined the quantity and which product should be used,” he said.
The lawyer avoided identifying who this person was. “I’m not going to comment on who it is at this point, it’s not appropriate, but it’s his superior,” he said, without confirming whether he is a manager or one of the gym’s owners.
The Civil Police are investigating whether the inappropriate handling of chemicals caused the release of toxic gases into the pool, resulting in the death of teacher Juliana Faustino Bassetto, aged 27, and the poisoning of other people.
