Vienna/Austria – The new deposit system for cans and PET bottles has been in effect in Austria for just over a year, but deposits are more than just an ecological issue. Estimated, around 225,000 to 228,000 people in Austria specifically collect deposit bottles and cans in public spaces to supplement their income. This is what a representative survey by fritz-kola and the opinion research institute TQS says. 70 percent of those surveyed said they regularly see deposit collectors.
