French police shot dead a knife-wielding man who tried to attack a police officer under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Friday night.. TASR informs about it according to the reports of the agencies AFP, Reuters and DPA.
The case is already being dealt with by the National Prosecutor’s Office for the fight against terrorism. The suspect was shot several times by the police and is currently hospitalized in critical condition. According to AFP, the man from the Paris suburb of Seine-Saint-Denis was known to the police.
