The police are investigating cases where someone shot at people in the Staré Mesto district of Košice. Five have been recorded since the beginning of the year. Shooting, probably from an air gun, was also recorded at the end of last year. Košice regional police spokeswoman Lenka Ivanová confirmed this for TASR, adding that there were also injuries. The Korzár newspaper drew attention to the cases, according to which they happened on Kuzmány’s estate.

In all of this year’s cases, the police received a notification on the emergency line. “One act is being investigated by the police as a suspicion of the commission of a crime of bodily harm, because a so far unknown perpetrator fired a so far unidentified firearm and hit the injured man. A projectile was removed from the man during medical treatment, it was seized and sent for a forensic-expert examination,” she said.
Four acts from this year are currently being clarified as misdemeanors. In two cases there were minor injuries, in one case the whistleblower did not want to deal with the matter through the police and in one case a glass panel in a nearby shopping center was damaged.
The police are also investigating a case from December 28, 2025, when someone probably fired an air gun and hit a woman. In this context, a criminal prosecution was initiated for the offense of bodily harm. They are examining the seized projectile.
According to Ivanova, it is currently not possible to confirm or rule out a possible connection between these cases. “The police are paying due attention to all of the above-mentioned acts and are actively acting on the matter. Five air guns belonging to one person have already been seized, but a match with the seized shotgun and firearms was not found through expert testimony and expert examination.” she added. According to the police, other specific measures taken to track down the perpetrator are not suitable to be specified in detail for tactical reasons.
