From Lousã to Armação de Pêra: two young people open Metrópole and offer a trip around the world with just your taste buds

Metrópole is a restaurant created by two young people born in Lousã who decided to move to Armação de Pêra, in the Algarve, to launch their own project focused on aged meat, sharing options and a menu that combines international references. The story of the space begins in 2019 and connects family tradition, restaurants and business ambition.

According to the restaurant’s website, the concept was created by Isaura and Moisés, who were looking for a different life and decided to leave Lousã, in the district of Coimbra, to build their own job in the Algarve. The change marked the beginning of a project designed from scratch.

Isaura grew up connected to the world of animal husbandry and her father’s butchery business, having learned about quality, cuts and selection of meat. Moisés is the son of a cook with restaurants in Coimbra, Algarve and Lousã, having spent his childhood in a restaurant environment.

From experience to table

The space was born from the desire to respect origins and apply the experiences accumulated over the years. The project integrated other collaborators, forming a young team that contributed to consolidating the structure. The objective is to create memories through the experience provided to those who visit the space, assuming that the concept is not limited to food, but to the moment lived at the table.

The menu dedicates an extended section to meats, with cuts that have a minimum resting period of 14 days. Origins include countries such as Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Argentina, United States, Australia and Japan.

Individual options include the Wonderful n.º7 for 22.5 euros, the Flat Iron Steak for 25.9 euros, the New York Strip Steak for 27.5 euros and the Ribeye Steak for 28.9 euros. The T-Bone is available for 37 euros and the Wagyu for 80 euros.

Proposals to share

The offer includes boards designed for two or more people. The World Travel option for two people costs 69 euros, while for three people the price is 93 euros.

The menu also has suggestions, such as the Tomahawk Black Angus for two people for 82 euros, the Carpe Diem for two or three for 122 euros and the Royal Flush for five or six for 179 euros, combining different cuts and sauces.

Entrance fees, sea and alternatives

In the entries, proposals appear such as Italy on the Globe, for 3.90 euros; Premium Black Pork Ham, for 18.90 euros; and carpaccio of Wagyu, for 24.50 euros. The cover charge is three euros per person.

The menu also includes dishes such as prawns bread, for 19.5 euros; prawn curry with pineapple, for 23 euros; portion of salmon, for 26.90 euros; and fresh cod, for 27.90 euros. For those who prefer options without meat or fish, there are risotto of mushrooms for 23 euros and vegetarian gnocchi for 24 euros.
