The United States announced on Friday that they sent more than six tons of medical supplies to Venezuela. TASR writes about it according to an AFP report.
The delivery of priority medical supplies to the Venezuelan people is part of the “stabilization, recovery and transition” plan country, the US State Department said in a statement. The department added that Venezuela’s interim health ministry is distributing medicine donated by the United States across the country to those in need of urgent medical care.
“Stabilizing the health system will attract responsible investment from the private sector and help Venezuela become more self-sufficient – in line with our approach to promote trade, not aid,” it is also stated in the statement of the US Department.
The announcement came as US President Donald Trump said he plans to visit Venezuela. The country was visited this week by US Energy Secretary Chris Wright, who held talks with interim President Delcy Rodríguez and oil industry officials on the use of the country’s oil reserves. Trump wants major US oil companies to quickly revive the oil sector and increase production by millions of barrels per day.
