The national president of , (SP), published this Friday (13) a note in support of the minister, who left the report on the Master case at the (Supreme Federal Court) after the PF (Federal Police) identified the minister in the scope of the case that investigates the .
The party highlighted that Toffoli has “almost twenty years of relevant services provided in the Brazilian judiciary”, having occupied the Presidency of the STF during the covid-19 pandemic and conducted general elections as president of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court), “always being respected for the balance and firmness in his public actions”.
The note does not cite the PF, responsible for the report that pointed out signs of crime to the STF, but says that the party considers the actions of “corporations” and the press as a “deadly lynching”, “based on pre-judgments and selective leaks of information elements”.
“Institutional responsibility requires all of us – political leaders – and society to be careful about defending democracy and its institutions”, the text concludes.

The minister’s departure from the rapporteur was announced on Thursday (12) in a note signed by the ten STF ministers – Jorge Messias, appointed by Lula, has not yet taken up the post to replace retired minister Luís Roberto Barroso.
The ministers’ official note also defends Toffoli and states that there is “no suspicion or impediment”, but states that the president of the court, Edson Fachin, accepted the former rapporteur’s request to leave the case.
The draw for the new rapporteur was held on Thursday night (12) and left out only Fachin and Toffoli. The minister, appointed by former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), will replace the minister in reporting on the case.
