The youngest son of Thales Machado, secretary of Itumbiara (GO), died this Friday (13). The 8-year-old boy and his brother were shot by their father before he took his own life on Thursday (12).
The information was confirmed to the report by one of the municipality’s secretaries, who requested anonymity. “Unfortunately, (the information about the young man’s death) is correct,” he said.
The wake is scheduled to start at 7am on Saturday (14), at the residence of the municipality’s mayor, Dione Araújo. He was the boys’ grandfather and Thales Machado’s father-in-law.

The eldest son, aged 12, succumbed to his injuries and died at the Modesto de Carvalho Municipal Hospital (HMMC). The youngest was taken in serious condition to the Itumbiara State Hospital and, after a day in hospital, he died.
The Goiás Civil Police opened a police investigation to investigate the events that occurred in the early hours of Thursday. “The investigation is conducted by the Itumbiara Homicide Investigation Group (GIH), which has already adopted the appropriate initial measures,” says the corporation.
According to the State Civil Police, the case is treated as a completed homicide and attempted homicide, followed by self-extermination. The corporation states that there is no evidence of third party participation in the crime.
The GIH monitored the work of the technical-scientific expertise until the removal of the body and continues in the field with surveys, hearings and expert requests, preserving the confidentiality of the investigation and respecting the pain of the family members.
