Before being honored at Marquês de Sapucaí this Sunday (15), President Luiz Inácio da Silva (PT) inaugurated an emergency center in a hospital and said that 2026 will be the year to destroy the lie.
Lula participated in the inauguration ceremony of an emergency center at the Cardoso Fontes Federal Hospital, in Jacarepaguá, southwest of Rio.
He arrived at the hospital accompanied by the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes (PSD), minister Alexandre Padilha (Health) and other authorities, such as minister Anielle Franco (Racial Equality) and former Minister of Health Nisia Trindade.
“This is the year in which we can say the following: Brazil found itself and the truth will destroy the lie that was told in this country for so long […] Whoever lies, you have to unmask. You can’t see a lie on your cell phone and make it cheap. Because lies lead us to violence”, said the president in his 17-minute speech.
Lula also said that people need to check their cell phones less, where they are “looking for bad news.”
“You get up at 5am, what do you do? Take your cell phone. You get up, go to bed at midnight, take your cell phone. But, guys, can’t you give your husband a cuddle or a wife a cuddle, instead of picking up your cell phone? The first thing I do when I wake up is give my wife a little cuddle. I don’t go on my cell phone, the cell phone stays until after 8 a.m.,” he said.
Lula defended his government’s social projects, such as exemption from IR (Income Tax) for those who receive up to R$5,000 per month and the delivery of gas to 15.5 million families.
In the evening, the president, after having participated in Galo da Madrugada, in Recife, and Carnival in Salvador, this Saturday (14). The samba school parades will open with a presentation about the PT member.
