APAL – Albufeira Promotion Agency, in partnership with the Municipality of Albufeira, promoted on Thursday, February 12th, a workshop at the NH Collection Hotel, in Seville, continuing the activity plan approved for 2026.
The initiative aimed to reinforce Albufeira’s positioning in the Spanish market and create new business opportunities in a nearby market considered strategic for the destination.

The event was attended by more than two dozen APAL members. Through their respective sales teams, local businesspeople participated in work sessions and commercial prospecting, establishing direct contacts with travel agents, tour operators and journalists from the Andalusian region.
The central objective of this trip was “to increase the attractiveness of the destination in strategic periods, such as the next Holy Week and the various long weekends, moments in which Spanish tourists play a prominent role in the local economy”.

After an afternoon dedicated to business meetings, the workshop ended with a dinner to introduce the destination, in which Albufeira’s main strengths were highlighted. At the end of the meeting, vouchers and experiences offered by the entrepreneurs present were drawn, with a view to encouraging direct knowledge of the product by Spanish professionals.
According to data from , Portugal is the second favorite international destination for Spaniards and the third in total volume of spending. In 2024, there were more than 6.8 million trips by Spaniards to Portugal, with expenses of more than 2.3 billion euros.

Andalusia represents 20.4% of the total number of Spanish tourists visiting Portugal, surpassed only by Galicia (20.9%) and ahead of Madrid (18.2%). The distribution of trips throughout the year demonstrates a relevant capacity to mitigate seasonality, with 33.7% of trips in high season, 32.1% in low season and 34.2% in mid season.
Spain is the 14th largest source of tourists in the world, generating 27.6 million trips annually, according to Travel BI.
After this action in Seville, Albufeira is now preparing its participation in the BTL – Lisbon Tourism Exchange, which takes place between February 25th and March 1st.
