Robert Makłowicz makes pancakes in an unusual way. They don’t need milk or carbonated water. He prefers to prepare his own dough based on another one from the fridge.

He regularly uses buttermilk for this purpose, which is not very popular among Poles, but it is yet many valuable applications. Thanks to this, the pancakes come out fluffy and never tear when removed from the pan.

Robert Makłowicz’s recipe for pancakes may seem unusual at first glance. And it’s not about using some sophisticated frying technique or other culinary “frills”.

What is most surprising is the composition of the pancakes the most famous Polish chef and traveler, when preparing them, gives up both carbonated water and milk.

Instead, he reaches for them . This slightly fermented drink gives pancakes a unique fluffiness and a subtly buttery taste. Thanks to it, the pancake dough becomes lighter, more elastic and pleasantly soft. It is more delicate than the version made with regular milk. Moreover, this addition also prevents popular pancakes from tearing because they are more elastic and elastic.

If you want your pancakes to be really successful, you need to stick to the proportions of the ingredients. Before you start preparing them, make sure you have all the products necessary to make them in your kitchen.

Recipe for pancakes with buttermilk – ingredients:

  • buttermilk – 1 cup
  • eggs – 2 pieces
  • wheat flour – 1 cup
  • oil – 2 tbsp
  • salt – a pinch

Start preparing the pancakes by pouring the buttermilk into a bowl. Then add the eggs and flour, add the oil and a pinch of salt. Mix the products, e.g. using a mixer at low speed.

Try to make the mixture smooth. If it seems too thick, dilute it by adding 1 tablespoon of water or buttermilk. Set the dough aside for a quarter of an hour. Then put the pan on medium heat. Stir the dough before frying and pour the first portion of it into the pan (in a thin layer).

Fry for about 1.5 minutes. When the edges start to lift slightly and the bottom looks brown, turn the pancake. When it is also ready, place it on a plate and stuff it with your favorite jam.
