A Ukrainian soldier fighting on the front line surprised his wife in Kiev, on Valentine’s Day, in a moment that is moving thousands of people on social media.
The scene was shared by DWS News and shows Kseniia’s reaction to being reunited with her husband, Vitalii Kovalishen, who she believed was in combat against Russian troops. The soldier unexpectedly appeared in the Ukrainian capital with a bouquet of flowers, catching his wife completely off guard.
The meeting took place at a Kiev train station. Kseniia thought she was going to travel to see her husband receive an award, without imagining that he himself would be waiting for her. In the video, it is possible to see Vitalii approaching from behind, with flowers in his hand, until the woman turns around and realizes who is in front of her, reacting with emotion, surprise and tears.
According to DWS News, the surprise was related to an initiative by the Ukrainian Railways, which launched a special two-hour service through the capital, called “Romantic Train – From Kyiv to Love”, created to mark Valentine’s Day.
