IR 2026: Largest batch of refunds in history is paid this Tuesday (30)

This Tuesday (30), the Federal Revenue will pay the second batch of IRPF (Individual Income Tax) refunds for 2026.

In total, R$16 billion will be credited to 9,585,797 taxpayers, making this the largest payment round in history in terms of number of beneficiaries and equaling the record in amount paid, recorded in the first batch of this year.

The batch consultation was released at 9 am last Tuesday (23), through the Revenue portal.

Combined, the first and second batch cover 18.3 million taxpayers, with a total of R$32 billion in refunds. With the payment of the first two batches, the agency estimates that it will meet around 80% of all refunds scheduled for 2026.

Of the total resources released in this Tuesday’s round of payments, R$4.49 billion will be allocated to groups with priority provided for by law. Among them are elderly people over 80 years old, and those aged between 60 and 79 years old.

In addition to people with physical or mental disabilities or serious illnesses and citizens whose main source of income is teaching.

Those who used the pre-filled declaration or chose to receive the refund via Pix will also benefit. According to the Tax Authorities, these measures were adopted to speed up the payment process.

How to check the refund

The query can be made on the “portal” by accessing the “Check my refund” option.

The taxpayer can also check the situation through the official Tax Authorities app for cell phones and tablets or through e-CAC, where it is possible to consult the declaration extract and identify any pending issues.

What to do if there is a problem with payment

The refund is deposited exclusively into a bank account held by the taxpayer. If there is an error in the data provided or there is any impediment to the indicated account, the credit will not be made.

In these situations, the Tax Authority advises citizens to request and reschedule payment with Banco do Brasil.

This service will be available for up to one year after the first credit attempt. To do this, you must inform the refund amount and the declaration receipt number.

If the amount is not redeemed within this period, the request must be made later via the Federal Revenue e-CAC portal.
