São Paulo announced the signing of midfielder Cauly, who belongs to Bahia and was loaned to the São Paulo club. The officialization took place this Monday (16).

The midfielder signed a contract valid until December 31, 2026, with an obligation to purchase clause if the goal is achieved. Last Friday (13), he underwent medical examinations and learned about the structure of the training center.

The agreement between the clubs provides that, during the loan period, Cauly will be able to face Bahia for . The player revealed that he always worked hard to make the transfer happen.

“From the beginning, I really wanted to be here. The desire was great. I’m going to do my best to help the team with ambition and professionalism. I’m looking forward to meeting the fans at Morumbis. I want to write a beautiful story, and that this translates into titles too”, celebrated the São Paulo reinforcement.

After the arrivals of goalkeeper Carlos Coronel, defender Matheus Dória, right-back Lucas Ramon and midfielder Danielzinho, Cauly is the team’s fifth signing in 2026,

Cauly’s loan to São Paulo

The financial compensation for the loan was set at 500 thousand euros (approximately R$3 million, at the current exchange rate). If Cauly plays in 25 matches, he will be forced to pay an additional two million euros (R$12.3 million) to acquire 50% of the athlete’s economic rights.

In addition, there is another game goal that, if met, generates an additional payment of 600 thousand euros (R$ 3.7 million) to Bahia. There is also a player performance bonus that can earn an additional €500,000.

If all the clauses set out in the contract are met, São Paulo will have to invest 3.6 million euros (around R$22 million at current prices) to have Cauly on a permanent basis. Even in this scenario, Bahia will continue to hold 25% of the midfielder’s economic rights.

Midfielder stands out at Bahia after career in Europe

In 2023, Cauly came to the country where he was born to debut in Brazilian football and defend Bahia, a club where he stood out in recent seasons and played for much of the time under the command of coach Rogério Ceni. Before, the midfielder spent his career in European football.

For the Salvador team, the player played 174 matches in three years, scored 23 goals and provided 26 assists, in addition to winning the Campeonato Baiano (2023 and 2025) and the Copa do Nordeste (2025).
