Brass musicians are happy people, period. If you don’t want to believe that, please come to the next birthday of the Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus district wind orchestra – it will then be its 101st. The club celebrated the centenary in 2025 with numerous events, including a legendary 360-degree concert at Stephansplatz for the members, during which the spectators stood in a circle around them. Then an anniversary ball was held in their honor at the Schutzhaus on the Schmelz, where they played the opening polka “In der Weinschenke”, which was intended to be a reminder of their roots in the Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus wine district. All of this – and much more – makes Lukas Matuschka, the club’s 30-year-old chairman, proud and… happy. He’s not even a brass musician, but a percussionist.
