US civil rights activist Jesse Jackson, who grew up in the segregated South, has died at the age of 84. He was considered an eloquent Baptist preacher and a close confidant of Martin Luther King. Jackson ran for the Democratic presidential nomination twice. (Reuters, February 17, 2026)
