The comedian Diogo Defante makes its debut in Marquis of Sapucaí as part of the Mocidade Independente de Padre Miguel parade, which pays homage to Rita Lee. The comedian is featured in one of the school’s allegories and celebrates the experience as a defining moment in his career.
Regarding the character he represents in the car, he explained: “So, I’m here as a submissive, being dominated by all the women, showing the strength of women. And I, in my position as a man, being controlled. Best position there is.”
Defante also spoke about . “For me it’s very special, firstly because you’re in Mocidade, as I’m from the area. And the fact that it’s special for Rita Lee has even more to do with me, because I like rock”, he told CNN Brazil.
“I always started in art as a drummer in a band and I always had her as a reference. She was a rocker and trailblazing woman, and she is in this story, in this school… Then it became more special. My historic debut, never to be forgotten… That’s it! It’s cool, how cool”, he added.
When remembering a song that marked him, Defante highlighted the emotional connection with his mother. “All of her songs are very special, but one that my mother listened to every day and she was a big fan of Rita Lee’s ‘Sex is a Choice’, so it’s a special song for me.”
The comedian’s debut reinforces the irreverent and libertarian tone that Mocidade takes to the avenue by celebrating the trajectory of the eternal.
The plot “Rita Lee, The Patron Saint of Liberty” was developed by carnival artist Renato Lage. The school’s evolution was hindered by a large open space between sectors three and four, in the jurors’ field of vision.
