Cambridge – US documentary filmmaker Frederick Wiseman, one of the greats of his genre, died on Monday. This was announced by Zipporah Films, the production company he founded. A cause of death was not given. In 2014 he received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival, where he won twice (with Ex Libris – The New York Public Library2017, and A Couple2022) was in competition. In 2016, Wiseman was honored with an honorary Oscar.
