Rome – The well-known elephant statue by the sculptor and architect Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1598-1680), bearer of an obelisk in the Piazza della Minerva in the center of Rome, has been damaged by vandals. An elephant’s tooth was broken off and found at the feet of the famous 17th century sculpture. The police want to use video recordings to try to track down the vandals.
