The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), celebrated this Thursday (19) the relegation of the Acadêmicos de Niterói samba schoolan association that paid homage to President Lula (PT). Tarcísio said that the result was as expected. “It could not have had any other repercussions, it’s already late. The relegation is very welcome, I was very happy”, celebrated the governor.

Tarcísio was on a schedule in Itapecerica da Serra and, in a press conference, gave his opinion on the Acadêmicos de Niterói parade. “The Carnival of the Academicos of Niterói was terrible level, terrible tastea misfortune of the samba school that bet on divisionism, decided to attack the family, the evangelicals, I felt attacked“, said the governor.

Last Monday (16) Tarcísio made a social media post criticizing the parade and alleged advance political propaganda by the PT. In the video, he says that the authorities use “partial and selective public power”, while, on the other hand, the law is strictly applied against opponents.

Tarcisio recalls the accusations made against former president Jair Bolsonaro in 2022, when he was declared ineligible for abuse of political power and ineligible use of the media, and compares it with the parade in honor of Lula. He says that, “if it wasn’t advance advertising, what was it?” He ends by saying that the parade, being broadcast on open TV, leaves the intention of early electoral propaganda and expects the same rigor now against the PT.

Niterói academics demoted

Academicos de Niterói suffered from accusations from the opposition since the day of the parade, on Sunday (15), and ended the investigation with 264.6 points, in 12th place, the last position.

The samba, performed by Emerson Dias, addressed Lula’s childhood in the rural Pernambucothe move to the Southeast, and his role as a trade unionist and as a politician. Lula followed the parade in Sapucaí and even came down from his box to greet the school master and flag bearer.

Despite having had an impact with praise for the PT member and criticism of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and his supporters, as canned conservatives and Bolsonaro as a clown trapped between bars, Acadêmicos de Niterói fell behind in all aspects scored by the Rio Carnival judges.

The item that the school had the lowest score on was costumes. The plot, which tells Lula’s story, was considered the worst among all 12 schools. Other points where Acadêmicos de Niterói lagged far behind the other associations were floats and props, drums, master room and flag bearer.
