The UN considers that there are possible crimes against humanity in the Epstein case. France opens investigations

The panel chosen by the United Nations considers, according to a report, that there is evidence of several crimes against humanity in the so-called “Epstein case”. Experts refer to the need to investigate, in detail and independently, possible cases of racism, tax fraud of a transnational nature and aggravated misogyny. For the panel, the various affected countries must activate justice mechanisms for this purpose.

“The scale, nature and systematic and transnational nature of these atrocities against women and girls are so serious that a number of them may meet the legal requirements to be considered crimes against humanity”, the report reads.

This is what the French justice system did. This Wednesday, the public prosecutor in Paris, Laurence Beccuau, said that the country could not “ignore a potential revelation of facts that could be subject to criminal classification”.

Laurence Beccuau thus announced the opening of two general investigations, with a large group of magistrates dedicated exclusively to both cases. The first for crimes of a sexual nature and exploitation of minors by an organized international network and the second for aggravated fraud and corruption at an international level.

Like the UN, French justice also appeals to victims who have not yet testified to do so, without fear, before the French and international authorities.
