Babiš invested Agrofert in the trust fund RSVP TRUST. He claims that he no longer has any influence or benefit

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš put shares of Agrofert into a private trust fund in order to meet the legal requirements of the EU and the Czech Republic. He himself emphasizes that he no longer has any influence or benefit on society.

Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš announced that he has invested Agrofert holding shares in the RSVP TRUST private trust fund. It did so after obtaining approval from the regulatory authorities of three EU member states. He stated this on Friday evening on the X social network, saying that he has no influence on the company and will not benefit from it, reports TASR in Prague.

  • Babiš put shares of Agrofert into a trust fund.
  • He did so after the approval of EU regulatory authorities.
  • He claims that he has no influence or benefit on Agrofert.
  • President Pavel requested the resolution of the conflict of interests.
  • The media question whether Babiš will regain influence through the children.

“As of February 20, 2026, after I managed to obtain the approvals of the regulatory authorities of three EU member states, I put all the shares of Agrofert, as into the RSVP TRUST, a private trust fund. I have no influence on Agrofert, as, nor do I have any benefit from it. I have thus fully met the requirements of Czech and European law in the area of conflict of interest prevention,” Babiš wrote.

President Pavle’s condition

Solving the conflict of interests was a condition for President Petr Pavle to appoint Babiš to the post of prime minister. The way the head of the ANO movement will do it was announced at the beginning of December. Shortly after that, Pavel appointed him to the position. Babiš said at the time that it would be an irreversible solution, because he would not get the shares even after leaving politics, and his children would receive them only after his death. However, this was later questioned by several Czech media.

Fund management dispute

The Seznam Zprávy server arrived at the beginning of February with the finding that, according to the fund’s statute, its management will come under the direct influence of Babiš’s children the moment he ends up in the government. According to the server, the document says that the regime of the so-called independent administration will also end at the moment of Babiš’s end in the government, and the regime of the so-called family administration will begin. The so-called family council composed of his children will thus have a direct influence on the fund. According to the director of Transparency International CR, David Kotora, the children could then again enable him to have an influence on the concern. However, the prime minister rejected this and called the organization corrupt.
