The case of the 17-year-old teenager who died after a serious traffic accident in Mâncio Lima had a new development. The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision spoke publicly through a statement of clarification, this Friday (20), stating that what happened “was not a deliberate act” and that he is cooperating with the authorities.
. The body was sent to the Legal Medical Institute (IML) and, after release, taken to Aldeia Puyanawa, where the wake and burial took place. Since the accident, family members have asked for a detailed investigation. The teenager’s uncle, Enos Alves da Costa, stated that the family hopes that all the circumstances will be clarified.
In a note released to the press, João Vitor Pinheiro, named as the driver of the car, stated that he spontaneously attended the police station, gave a statement and presented information, including a video that, according to him, contributes to understanding the dynamics of the events. He also stated that he was traveling according to traffic rules and that he was surprised by the motorcycle going the wrong way.
The case remains under investigation by the competent authorities, who must await the conclusion of expert reports to officially clarify the circumstances of the accident.

João Vitor Pinheiro comes forward, due to the articles and headlines recently published in the media, to provide the following clarifications:
Initially, he expresses his deep regret and solidarity with the family of Wendilla Puyanawa, expressing respect for the pain of everyone involved in this sad episode.
It clarifies that what happened was not a deliberate act, but rather an accident, the circumstances of which are being duly investigated through a police investigation and will be clarified in due course within the scope of the judicial process.
João Vitor has fully collaborated with the authorities from the beginning, having spontaneously attended the police station, given a statement and provided all the necessary clarifications, including providing the video that contributes to understanding the dynamics of the events.
He also emphasizes that he was traveling in compliance with traffic rules when he was surprised by the motorcycle that entered the wrong lane, making it impossible for the driver of the vehicle to take any action. After the incident, emergency services were called and remained at the scene until emergency services arrived. Later, due to the crowd of people and in a state of shock, he left, however, making himself available to the authorities.

On Thursday, as he returned from service at the Mâncio Lima Police Station (due to the Ash Wednesday holiday), he promptly appeared before the police authority to formalize his version of the events.
