US and Canadian fighter jets intervened in the Alaska Air Defense Zone (ADIZ) overnight Friday after NORAD radar systems picked up a group of Russian military aircraft.
The North American Air Defense Command (NORAD) recorded the movement of several Russian aircraft in the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) on Friday night. The United States sent its fighters to the Russian machines. TASR writes about it with reference to the Reuters agency.

The US-Canada Joint Command spotted two Russian Tu-95 strategic bombers, accompanied by two Su-35 fighter jets and one A-50 early warning aircraft.
Therefore, they sent two F-16 fighters and two F-35 fighters to the Russian squadron, as well as an E-3 early warning aircraft and four KC-135 refueling aircraft “with the aim of intercepting, identifying and escorting Russian aircraft.”
NORAD emphasized that the Russian planes did not violate US or Canadian airspace and were escorted away from the ADIZ area.
