The second consecutive victory of the Brazilian team FaZe Clan in the Six Invitational 2026, a “Tom Clancy’s: Rainbow Six Siege” tournament, reinforces the country’s image as a global power in electronic sports.
The tournament was hosted in Paris and came to an end this Sunday (15). Brazil had five teams competing.
In addition to “Tom Clancy’s: Rainbow Six Siege”, the good phase extends to games like “Counter-Strike 2”, “Valorant” and “PUBG Mobile”. In 2025 alone, Brazilian teams won at least nine international esports championships.
These results are a consequence of large investments in competitive sports teams in the country. The loyal fan base not only participates in the game, but enters competitions through smaller and community championships organized by the developers.
Some are called to join larger teams, gaining structure for training and professionalization — a movement that is not yet accessible to everyone.
The country has a number of great teams. In addition to FaZe Clan, teams such as Team Liquid, Ninjas in Pajamas, Fluxo W7M and MIBR compete in global challenges in first-person, strategy and even football games.
Last year, in addition to FaZe’s first victory at the Six Invitational, Alpha7 Esports won the PUBG Mobile Championship 2025, from “PUBG Mobile”, and won US$3 million (around R$15 million at the current price). Team Liquid won the Game Changers Championship, the highest female competition in “Valorant”, among other examples.
If before the attention was on European countries or the United States, Brazil is now gaining the spotlight in several modalities, according to Chrystina Martel, executive producer of “Rainbow Six Siege” at Blast, an electronic sports media company.
She states that the predominance of certain regions in the esports scene tends to vary. While other places try to gain space, Brazilians continue to raise cups.
International teams see competing against Brazilian teams as a difficult task, and coaches from the country are hired all over the world. Examples of technical committees with Brazilians include Team Secret (European), Team Falcons (Saudi and French) and Wildcard (American).
Brazil also hosts world events. It will host the Six Invitational again in 2027, with a city yet to be defined — the 2024 event was held in São Paulo.
- The capital of São Paulo will also host the First Stand Tournament, of “League of Legends”, in March.
- Rio de Janeiro will host the Intel Extreme Masters 2026, a global “Counter-Strike 2” tournament, in April.
The installed base of players in the country weighs heavily on the organizers: there are many passionate fans. Brazilian engagement in these championships is great, and the base is faithful to the games and teams they support.
Leandro Estevam, associate director of esports in Latin America at Ubisoft, confirms Brazil’s strength in esports not only with good players and good teams, but also with a significant presence of fans. “The passion of Brazilian fans is recognized as a brand, a signature of our country, which also helps it to always be remembered in esports”, he states.
For him, the country’s esports market is still developing, and players’ access to the devices and interfaces on which games are available needs to improve. The effort to democratize the entry of new users, according to the director, involves investments from the private and public sectors.
“The government could do more. There are ordinances, government moves to direct part of the revenue from betting companies, for example, to the esports industry. But dialogue with representatives of this industry is necessary. It needs to be done well and carefully”, he says.

The game left limitations aside, took advantage of the great power of the PlayStation 5 and transformed a previously rigid open world into fields that span several eras of Japanese history, the center of the plot. Even though the country’s historical context serves more as a backdrop for the player to engage in battles and wars, the action elements and the soulslike character of the title are very well executed. The combat mechanics are excellent and very well balanced, making the game one of the best action games so far.

- Samsung confirmed the holding of a new edition of the Odyssey Cup, the national “Counter-Strike 2” championship. The registration period begins on March 2, and the tournament will be free to all Brazilian amateur and professional players. Last year, the competition had more than 500 entries. There will be four stages – qualifying, a Swiss seeding stage, knockout stage and grand final. Only the last stage will take place in person. The winner will receive R$110,000, a championship trophy and six monitors from the South Korean company.
- Sony launched “God of War: Sons of Sparta”, a game that ends the year of festivities celebrating the 20th anniversary of the “God of War” franchise. The game is in 2D and tells the story of Kratos’ youth during training at Ágoge, alongside his brother Deimos. Adult Kratos is the one who narrates the story. The company also announced that the trilogy based on Greek mythology is in production and will be released soon, without providing further details. The new exclusive for PlayStation 5 starts at R$169.99.
- “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” was the most awarded game at the Dice Awards 2026, awarded by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences. The ceremony took place last Thursday (12), in Las Vegas. The game was nominated in 23 categories, winning five of them, including Game of the Year. “Ghost of Yotei” won three awards, as Best Character, and “Arc Raiders” won Online Game of the Year.
- A chain of stores in Norway has promised to offer free copies of “GTA 6” to players who have children on the day of the game’s release. The title is scheduled to be available on November 19th of this year. The Komplett network posted a video on Instagram saying “lay together today and get GTA 6 for free in 9 months”. The video reinforces that the proposal is not a joke. The store chain did not provide details about the proof for those who try the promotion, nor what it will do if the title is postponed again.
- Sega recorded in a report for the third fiscal semester of 2025 and 2026 a loss of US$200 million (around R$1 billion) in the mobile segment after the acquisition of Rovio, the company that created “Angry Birds”. According to the owner of Sonic, the profitability of the mobile device business was below the initial forecast. The transaction was carried out in 2023 so that the Japanese gaming giant could gain experience and presence on phones.
