Gisele Alves Santana, 32 years old, wife of a PM lieutenant colonel, found dead

The São Paulo Civil Police investigates the circumstances of the death of Gisele Alves Santana, 32 years old, wife of a lieutenant colonel of the Military Police. The case, registered in the 8th Police District, in Brás, underwent a change in its classification: initially classified as a “completed suicide”, the investigation now includes the nature of “suspicious death”, which expands the conclusion of the investigation to other hypotheses, including homicide or femicide.

According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), the change aims to “investigate the circumstances of the victim’s death” and efforts are underway to clarify the facts.

Information gathered by the report Young Pan indicate that the victim was killed with a Shot fired by her own husband’s gun. Neighbors reported having heard an argument between the couple moments before the shooting.

The officer’s behavior is also the subject of investigation. Reports from people close to the couple indicate that the lieutenant colonel showed excessive jealousyachieving surprise visits to his wife’s workplace.

The absence of a farewell letter and the profile of the victim — described as a mother very attached to her son — are elements that, added to the history of marital conflicts and the use of a gun by her husband, led authorities to question the initial theory of suicide.

The Civil Police reported that they continue to listen to witnesses and are awaiting expert reports to determine the exact dynamics of the death.

What the SSP-SP says

In an official note, the ministry confirmed the reclassification of the police record:

“The Civil Police clarifies that the case was initially registered as a completed suicide in the 8th DP (Brás). Subsequently, the nature of suspicious death was included to determine the circumstances of the victim’s death. Investigations are underway.”
