Among junior schools, the majority work artistic training of children and adolescents within larger special group schools.
This is the case of 11 of the 12 schools that parade this Friday: Herdeiros da Vila is linked to the traditional Vila Isabel; Pimpolhos da Grande Rio is the junior branch of the Duque de Caxias school and Tijuquinha do Borel reinforces the cultural identity of the Tijuca community.
The same can be said about Estrelinha da Mocidade; Mangueira do Ajante; from Aprendizes do Salgueiro; Sonho do Beija-Flor; Filhos da Águia, heiress of Portela; from Crias Imperatriz; from Netinhos do Tuiuti; and Virando Esperança, born from the 2026 champion, Unidos do Viradouro.
