Air rescuers have their hands full: A collision with a snowmaking device or a collision of skiers!

Air rescuers helped four injured skiers on Friday (February 20). In Chopek, they intervened when a 41-year-old Slovak ski alpinist and a 27-year-old Polish skier were injured, in Krušetnica na Orava they helped a 55-year-old woman and in Tatranská Lomnica a 55-year-old skier from Great Britain. The Air-Transport Europe (ATE) Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (VZZS) announced this on Saturday on the social network.

The Slovak ski alpinist injured her lower limb by falling in open terrain in the area of ​​Derešské kotol. “The scene of the incident was quickly located and the doctor was lowered to the patient using a rope technique. She was then treated, evacuated in a transport seat and airlifted to the hospital in Liptovský Mikuláš.” air rescuers said.

Shortly after returning to its base, the helicopter headed to Jasna a second time. There, a Polish skier suffered a pelvic injury after hitting a snowmaking device. Rescuers stabilized him and then transported him to a hospital in Liptovský Mikuláš.

In the meantime, the Žilina crew intervened on Orava in the Krušetnica ski resort. “A 55-year-old woman suffered a short-term loss of consciousness when two skiers collided. After landing, air rescuers took her from the ground team. She was conscious, but disoriented, with a head injury and was transported to the Central Military Hospital in Ružomberok,” the VZZS brought it closer.

When skiers collided at high speed, the crew from Poprad also intervened on the Čučoriedka slope in Tatranská Lomnica. “A skier from Great Britain fractured her femur. A doctor was dropped from the support of the helicopter, the patient was treated, evacuated with an on-board winch and then transported to the hospital in Poprad.” air rescuers added.
