The union leader, who represents workers at , had to provide clarifications after criticizing the investigation opened by Moraes to investigate the alleged leak of confidential tax data of the minister and family members. The judge’s attitude generated criticism that he was abusing his power and adopting an intimidating stance.
“Febrafite emphasizes that the exercise of associative representation constitutes one of the pillars of the Democratic State of Law, guaranteed by the Federal Constitution as a legitimate instrument of institutional defense of public careers and its members”, says the note from the state auditors.
According to the federation, the actions of class leaders, “especially when aimed at expressing concerns about the functioning of institutions and the conditions for exercising public functions, integrate the democratic debate and contribute to the improvement of public administration.”
“It is essential that the Brazilian institutional environment preserves and respects the right to free expression and the action of representative entities, ensuring that their leaders can fully exercise their duties, with autonomy, responsibility and legal security”, adds the note.
