Embraer and Adani Defense expand agreement for final assembly of E175 jet in India

Embraer and Adani Defense & Aerospace, India’s largest aerospace and defense company and flagship company of Adani Enterprises Ltd, signed an expanded Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a final assembly line for the E175 regional jet, under India’s Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) program.

The MoU is an advancement to the initial memorandum signed in January 2026 and is part of a broader plan to develop the Regional Transport Aircraft (RTA) program in India. The MoU also reinforces the deepening of strategic relations between the two countries.

The document was signed by Francisco Gomes Neto, president and CEO of Embraer, and by Jeet Adani, director of Adani Defense & Aerospace, in the presence of the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the Minister of Commerce and Industry of India, Piyush Goyal.

According to the published document, the industrial partnership aims to structure the production of the E175 in India. The two companies are already working together to advance all aspects of the MoU, including opportunities in aircraft manufacturing, supply chain, after-sales services, pilot training and obtaining orders to support the proposed final assembly line.

“Regional aviation is one of the pillars of economic expansion. With initiatives like the UDAN program expanding air connectivity in medium and small cities, it is essential to strengthen regional aviation in the country,” said Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Defense & Aerospace. “This partnership also reinforces the strategic relations between India and Brazil, with synergy between the complementary capabilities of the two countries”, he added.

The president and CEO of Adani Defense & Aerospace, Ashish Rajvanshi, added that the regional jet segment in India is being structured and that the agreement is important for a “self-sufficient aviation, capable of reducing distances between urban and rural areas, generating high-skilled jobs and strengthening the country’s position in the global aerospace industry”.

Embraer’s president and CEO highlighted that the E175 has a recognized history of operating on high-frequency regional routes in several markets, and India is one of the main countries expanding in this segment. “This signing represents an important milestone for the partnership, as we continue to work on all aspects related to the implementation of the final assembly line in the country, including obtaining orders.”

According to Adani, India is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world in terms of passenger traffic, with an estimated demand for at least 500 aircraft in the 80 to 146 seat range over the next 20 years.
