Sarandos’ response came after Cameron sent a letter to US Senator Mike Lee saying that allowing Netflix to acquire the studio would be catastrophic for theaters and would weaken an important cog in the Hollywood machine, leading to massive job losses.
The director of classics like Titanic said Sarandos planned to aim for a 17-day release window, although Netflix executives said he would keep the Warner Bros. films. in theaters for 45 days.
“I never said the words ’17-day window,’” Sarandos responded. “The films stay in cinemas for 45 days and every year we have a healthy and strong flow of films, and this will continue”, he reinforced.
