The accident occurred amid several athletes falling during a speed skating event.
Polish speed skating athlete Kamila Sellier suffered a tense fall in the 1,500 meter race, on short track, at the Winter Olympic Games, this Friday (20).
With the fall of several skaters, Kamila was hit in the face by the blade of American Kristen Santos-Griswold’s skates. Then, Italian Arianna Fontanna ended up unintentionally knocked down by Kamila.
She ended up suffering a deep cut on her cheek towards her eye.sending the goggle flying. With other small scratches on her body, the test was interrupted and Kamila was taken out on a stretcher to be taken to the hospital. At the exit, however, the athlete reassured the fans by giving a thumbs up. Italian athlete Arianna Fontanna was also attended to by her team on the side of the track.
At the end of the care protocols, the test was resumed. The German Hanne Desmet finished first, with a time of 2min24s365. Arianna Fontanna came second, with 2min25s024 and also qualified.
