President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) sent a message to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, when asked about the new tariffs imposed by the Republican in a conversation with the press in New Delhi, India, in the early hours of this Sunday (22).
“I want to tell President Trump that we don’t want a new Cold War. We do not want to have a preference for any country, We want to have equal relations with all countries. We want to treat everyone on equal terms and also receive equal treatment from them with other countries”, he said.

That’s why I want to talk directly with Trump about the entire relationship between Brazil and the United States,” he said.
Lula also once again criticized the use of the dollar in trade negotiations. “We don’t want the Brics currency, we want to discuss it. For Brazil to trade with India, does it need to have the dollar or can we make our own currency?”
