Marisa Monte is moved by the Filhos da Águia parade in Sapucaí

One of the greatest singers of our MPB and a historical reference of Portela, Marisa Monte was present at the junior schools’ night and excitedly followed the Filhos da Águia parade in Marquês de Sapucaí on Friday night (20).

Linked to the project since its creation, she highlighted her pride in seeing the new generation occupying the avenue in an interview with CNN Brazil.

“Since the school was created, I’ve been with it. Since the beginning. And I’m very happy to see that it’s also growing, learning about the values ​​here of samba, the school, and Rio culture.”

The singer also highlighted the impact on children’s self-esteem and the social role of the group.

“Seeing their self-esteem, how they have their own value here and have so much to offer us, with so much beauty, with so much innovation, with so much joy… this is very inspiring. Everyone who comes here today is enchanted by this school”, he said.

In addition to Filhos da Águia, the following also paraded: Infantes do Lins, Herdeiros da Vila, Pimpolhos da Grande Rio, Tijuquinha do Borel, Estrelinha da Mocidade, Mangueira do Ajante, Aprendizes do Salgueiro, Sonho do Beija-Flor, Crias Imperatriz, Netinhos do Tuiuti and Virando Esperança.

The night reaffirmed the strength of child samba as a storehouse of talent and an instrument of social transformation.
