Carlos: Bolsonaro makes prison list of pre-candidates – 02/21/2026 – Politics

The former president is preparing a list of pre-candidates for the Senate, state governments and “other equally relevant political participation”, the councilor wrote in X this Saturday (21).

Carlos, who visited his father in Papudinha, after being convicted of an attempted coup following his defeat in the 2022 elections, said that Bolsonaro asked his son to inform his allies about the creation of the list.

“Even in the face of the evident deterioration of his health, he remains focused, lucid and constructive”, said the councilor about his father.

Carlos also wrote that Bolsonaro “continues to sob intensely” and that he had a “severe bout of vomiting” throughout Friday afternoon (20). That day, the Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, granted house arrest to the former president, as requested by his defense.

Bolsonaro has received visits to Papudinha from pre-candidates seeking the former president’s blessing to launch themselves in his electoral strongholds.

Carlos also said that he met and shook hands with federal deputies and Ubiratan Sanderson (), who also visited Bolsonaro this Saturday (21).

Nikolas and the former federal deputy had a public disagreement in recent days. In an interview with SBT News, on Friday (20), the former president’s son stated that Nikolas and the former first lady have not shown due support for the pre-campaign for the Presidency.

After visiting Bolsonaro, he said that the former deputy “is not well” and defended Michelle.

Last week, the announcement of a right-wing protest for March 1st once again exposed friction between Nikolas, who called the demonstration under the motto “Out, Lula, Moraes and Toffoli”, and a Bolsonarist wing, more linked to Eduardo and Flávio, which believes it is not strategic to now prioritize the impeachment of Federal Supreme Court Minister Dias Toffoli.

There are recurring complaints about an alleged attempt by Nikolas to separate himself from Bolsonaro and prioritize his own engagement and political growth — which the deputy’s allies summarize as a “pain in the neck” and a dispute for protagonism.

On some occasions in the past, Eduardo had already accused the deputy of not engaging as he could in agendas in defense of Bolsonarism.

The conflictive relationship reflects the split within the Bolsonaro family itself. While Eduardo accumulates friction with Nikolas, Michelle —who is the target of her husband’s children’s artillery— supports the deputy.
