Abuse makes the electoral law fall into disuse – 02/23/2026 – Dora Kramer

The clash of arguments between “experts” to define whether there is anticipation, whether on the part of government or opposition members, sounds impertinent towards other people’s discernment.

Obviously there is. The legal evidence may be insufficient, but the factual evidence is there. It’s been more than a year since anything else has been talked about in politics, parties and candidates have moved around the issue, and the news has referenced the October election. They ask for votes, yes.

Just as it was said in 2025 that 2026 had already begun, the electoral campaign began much earlier. The dispute takes place permanently and in a more pronounced way when social networks entered the scene.

In this uncontrollable environment, legislation became anachronistic and the task of law became somewhat obsolete by submitting to the dictates of rules outdated by open facts.

Only in a make-believe scenario can the government’s neutrality be admitted because the president and his delegation did not participate in the event, but watched from their box seats making the “L” on the avenue and making references to the “13” on the electronic ballot box.

The case of the President of the Republic draws more attention due to the disproportionality of power and visibility, but let’s face it, Luiz Inácio da Silva has the company of governors, deputies, senators and all politicians who, in the exercise of their positions, link their actions to their respective electoral interests.

The opposition pretends to be vestal, but it is the rotten one speaking of the torn when it asks for punishments because of the plot of a samba school. Where were they all before this? We know, as we are tired of seeing them duly billed on their own platforms doing what the law prohibits, but the permissiveness binge has long authorized.

This offense has shared custody. It is broad and unrestricted. Therefore, perhaps it would be better if the provisions to the contrary were repealed in order to allow everyone to be satisfied and Justice would not pretend to be at odds.
