“The question is how much territory it will be able to conquer and how to stop it. Russia wants to impose a different way of life on the world.”
The Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, started the “Third World War” advocating military and economic pressure to force Russia to withdraw forces from Ukraine.
“I think Putin has already started (the “Third World War”). The question is how much territory you will be able to conquer and how to stop it. (…). Russia wants to impose a different way of life on the world and change the life that people have chosen,” said Zelensky in an interview with the British public broadcaster released today.
On Sunday, it was already noted 4 years of the beginning of Russia’s large-scale attack against the entire Ukrainian territory, which will be completed on Tuesday.
In 2014, Russia had already invaded Ukraine, annexing the Crimean Peninsula.
The Ukrainian President said in the same interview that refusal pay the price of a ceasefire demanded by Putin, which goes through withdrawal of strategic territories that Russia was unable to capture.
Zelensky rejected once again Russia’s demand that the Ukraine hands over 20% of eastern Donetsk regionas well as territories in the southern regions of Kherson and Zaporijia.
He insisted that Russia started the war and reinforced that “stopping” Putin is a victory for the world whole.
Outside Georgia and Moldova
The head of European Union (EU) diplomacy demanded that Russia withdraw from occupied territories in countries such as Georgia or Moldova as part of a peace plan for Ukraine.
Speaking to journalists at the entrance to a meeting of Foreign Affairs ministers in Brussels, Kaja Kalla confirmed the news that indicated that it is developing a proposal for Russia to withdraw from occupied territories in Ukraine, but also in regions of Georgia, Armenia or Moldova, as part of a peace plan.
“It is true that Russia occupied many territories and its forces are in several places, for example in Georgia or Moldova. Therefore, it should be clear that, in order to achieve lasting peace, they must withdraw of the occupied territories in which they are located”, he stated.
Kallas admitted that, for some, these demands may be considered unrealistic, “but, frankly, the demands that are being made by Russia [nas negociações para a paz na Ucrânia] They are also not realistic at all.”
The head of EU diplomacy discarded that foreign ministers are able to to approve today the 20th package of sanctions to Russia, contrary to what was planned, in opposition to Hungary.
Impatience
Last week, trilateral negotiations took place between Ukraine, Russia and the USA in Geneva.
Between negotiations, there was “significant progress”, according to White House envoy Steve Witkoff. But no agreement, once again.
Also last week, Zelenskyy started to show a tougher, more direct speech against the Kremlinwhile reinforcing that Ukraine will not give up territory; the rhetorical history of Russia does not convince him.
And he won’t waste time debating theories about the origins of this war – he wants solutions to end the conflict.
In between, he warned that Vladimir Putin is a .
He is an impatient, irritated and bothered president of Ukraine, describes the , which adds: Zelensky’s impatience with Putin makes peace negotiations difficult.
“I don’t need historical m… to end this war and move on to diplomacy. This is just a tactic to buy time”, stressed the president of Ukraine.
